Probable source, although more research needed. This document contains information regarding the Reverend, a trial, being left with 3 kids with no mother, and needing to find another, the children named, I believe, are James, Jean, and Robert. Blair-5780 and Blair-1669 appear to represent the same person because: married same person same day

One might also care to check the cousin relationship between the Blair Family and I believe James IV and VI

For discussion? Might the ever so popular Alvah Minister be like some sort of ecclesiastical title instead... like al. venerated and honorable minister? Just some thoughts, especially if other listings didn't have spouse's name? Sorry, this has always bothered me...

(Ranks up there with curiousity of ancient ancestors and names like Chlothilde and Rhotilde and knowing the Romans used a tilde for an abbreviation of popular names.....)

It is rather odd that we can't get these dates to match up, but previous research that I'm unable to find had this man with Reverend ancestors..as if a brother went west in scotland, the dad in endinburgh, and this man going to baniffshire. Isn't this a bit odd of a twist? Strange though, I could have sworn another citing had them as Presbyterians...alas, no waltzing matildas then, eh? http://www.scottish-places.info/people/famousfirst2218.html
