My Father told me it was his oldest brother John who worked the farm they were renting in Oklahoma during the great depression and cared for the livestock and kept the family fed while their Father my Grandfather was away working to build Hwy 64 and earn enough money to move the family out west to California, just like the grapes of wrath movie.
