According to Article 186, William Edmundson-Edmiston, by M Bernice Edmondson Little, in The Heritage of Ashe County North Carolina, First Lt James Blair was married to Mary Suddreth Blair, b 1759 Albemarle Virginia when he was killed at Kings Mtn. N Car 1780. Then, widow Mary Suddreth Blair married William Edmiston about 1782 and they settled in Burke Co N Carolina. Now, since I am researching and editing William Edmiston-420 and Mary Suddreth-87 Edmiston, I would like to know if Suddreth-87 was first married to James Blair-1949 or some other James Blair. In other words, should I just add Blair-1949 as the first spouse of Suddreth-87 or should I create a new James Blair profile and risk having to merge them later. Suggestions please.
My inclination would be for you to create a new James Blair profile, and look for documentation for him from the Sudderth side. The "traditional" history of Colbert Blair's family is seriously flawed, and I am not at all certain that Colbert Blair was thefather of the James Blair killed at Kings Mountain. Please see my link cited above under the Sources header.
I just adopted this profile. Colbert and Sarah's son James is said to have died in the Revolutionary War. Is October 1780 correct? Is there any documentation for his birthdate and birthplace as shown here?
