Biography

Cornelia Mae Blair was born on Monday, October 3, 1910, on New Bethlehem, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Frank Halstead Blair (Friday, May 14, 1886 - Friday, December 16, 1966) and Irene Blanche Sample Blair (Thursday, February 26, 1885 - Saturday, March 29, 1958). They were married on Friday, January 22, 1909. Her father worked as a fireman in a coal mine.

Cornelia Blair was one of seven eighth graders at Gibbs School to achieve perfect attendance for the 1923-24 school year. During that school year there were twenty-eight students in the eighth grade. Cornelia was among the fourteen highest performers, all of whom had averages of 83% or higher. The King's Daughters Class of the First Congregational Church of Canton had a Valentines exchange at the home of Cornelia Blair on Tuesday, February 14, 1928.

On Friday, December 26, 1930, Cornelia married Clement Augustus Behra in Canton, Stark County, Ohio. They had four children: Clement Augustus Behra (Tuesday, January 13, 1931 - Monday, March 30, 1987), Patricia Joan Blair (Friday, March 8, 1935 - Sunday, July 4, 1937), Sue Carol Behra Meeks (Wednesday, February 12, 1936 - Saturday, April 26, 1980), and Thomas R. Behra (Wednesday, December 21, 1938 - Tuesday, August 4, 2009).

Two year old Patricia Joan Behra was killed in a late morning traffic accident in 1937 on the fourth of July on a highway near West Kittanning, Pennsylvania. She suffered a crushed skull. Her grandmother was the only other person injured. Mrs. Irene Blair was hospitalized with head injuries. Burial was in St. Peters Cemetery in Canton.

Cornelia was an active participant in Canton's Jinx Five Hundred Club and First Congregational Church Beacons' Class.

Cornelia passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 1970, in Canton. She is buried with her husband, Clement, at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton in Section 18, Row 26.
