Biography
Jessie was born at the Dundee Tollhouse, Dundee Road, Forfar in 1870 when her father was tollkeeper there. She was named after her maternal grandmother Janet Smart. She lived with her parents when they were in South Cottage, Dunnichen. While at South Cottage Jessie aged 21 had an illegitimate daughter on 1 July 1891 named Margaret. This child died aged three years in Sep 1894 and was buried at Forfar in the family plot in Newmonthill (lair J/64/1) Jessie moved with them to Arbroath living with them at Kinnaird St. in 1901. She married James Fitchet at Arbroath in 1906. In 1911 she was living with her parents at 45 Kinnaird St., Arbroath.
