Gavin married Annabell Stewart.[1] He died on or before 2 May 1667.[2]
It is alleged . . . Gavin Blair of Auldmuir was a younger brother of Bryce Blair of that Ilk, heir to the Blair estate. Gavin may have been born in Blair but did not own it. Unfortunately, there is some confusion between Gavin Blair of Auldmuir and Gavin Blair of Hallie or Hally. The father of Ann Blair, wife of Andrew Lynn of that Ilk, is Gavin Blair of Auldmuir; and his wife was not Isobel Crawford but Annabell Stewart. Isobell Stewart is first found as the wife of Gavin Blair on May 21, 1612, when they were granted a charter for certain Ayrshire lands. In the document extract at the website of the National Records of Scotland, Gavin is designated "of Manismuir", which may be an error in transcription. On December 8, 1628, Annabel Stewart, spouse of Mr [Master] Gavin Blair of Auldmuir, ratified a disposition of lands to one Mathew Hislott. In addition, Gavin Blair of Auldmuir lived until at least 1656, when he is found witnessing a charter as "Mr [Master] Gavin Blair, uncle to the laird of Blair", the laird of Blair then being a son of Bryce Blair. Auldmuir is in Ayrshire approximately four miles west of Blair and two miles west of the old barony of Lynn.
Thought by some to be a child of John Blair and Grizel Semple but not one of the documented children. Also, Grizzel was deceased prior to teh birth date.
