Amelia Harris Blair was born in Truro, Novia Scotia, August 7, 1832, and died June 16, 1912. In 1841, she came with her parents to Knoxville, Ill. She was married to E. L. Bean in 1859. To this union, eight children were born, four sons, all of whom died in infancy and four daughters, Mrs. Emma Estella Turner, who died in 1890, Mrs. Ella Maud Harland, whose death occured in 1910, Mrs. Etta McGinnis of College Springs and Edna Smith of Aberdeen, S. D. Mrs. Bean came to Page county with her husband in 1865 and has lived in the vicinity of College Springs ever since. At the age of ten years, she joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Knoxville, Ill. She was one of the charter members of the same denomination of this place when the church was first organized here by Rev. Martin in 1867. On last Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30 the funeral took place at the same church conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. H. Shipman. Her body was laid at rest in the west Grove cemetery beside those of her children.[1]
