Biography

(All notes below from "Southern Blakes" by Kate Blake Daus, 1956.)

Abt 1765 - Married first wife, name unknown; Chandler Eavenson thinks she may have been a Chambers because some children gave this name to their children. But he has no proof.

1780 ... May 23, married Lucy Allen Mobley, widow of William Mobley

1782 ... North Carolina - Purchased "3 sows, 7 pigs, 2 chissels" at the public sale of the estate of John Griffin, Sr., deceased.

1782 ... Oct. 7 - Made marriage bond for Theophilus Dillard and Susanna Allen. (Wake County Marriage Deeds, Archives Dept., Raleigh, NC) p. 13. (Was this Susanna related to his wife Lucy Allen Mobley?)

1783 ... April 20 - William and Lucy Blake sold land in Wake Co., NC to John Pullen ... "North Carolina, Wake County, William Blake and his wife, Lucy, of the first part, and John Pullen, of said State and County, second part; bargains and sold to said Pullen a tract of 250 acres, described and bounded as follows, to wit: 'begin at a white oak below said Blake's mill on the side of said creek, running north 160 poles to a hicory, thence west 250 poles to a hicory, thence south 160 poles to a white oak, thence east 250 poles to the point of beginning.' Said land granted by Earl Granville to James McKleroy, by deed of date 27th day of April, 1753; and by said McKleroy to William Blake, Sr., by deed bearing date Dec. 30th, 1754; and by said William Blake, Sr., by deed of gift to his son, said William Blake, Jr., etc." signed and sealed this April 20th, 1783.

"Same date as above, William and Lucy Blake gave another deed to the same John Pullen for 250 acres located on the north side of Walnut Creek; land originally granted by Earl Granville to John Giles Thomas, and by said Thomas to John Blake, and by said John Blake to William Blake, Sr., and by said William Blake, Sr. to William Blake, Jr. Signed in same manner as above and witnessed by same parties. "Recorded Sept. 30, 1785, in Deed Book G, page 70. (Deed Records of Wake County, North Carolina) p. 13."

"Sergeant in Ralston's Co., NC, in American Revolution"

"1785 ... Was in Wilkes County, Georgia. Land owned by William was cut off and thrown into Elbert County when it was created in 1790 p. 13.

1790 ... Was in Elbert Co., GA (Elbert County created from Wilkes, William's land shifted from Wilkes to Elbert)

1796 ... 8 Oct., Made Will

1798 ... 1 April ... Will probated"
