Maria Blanchard was born on 3rd December 1831, the 2nd child of David Blanchard (Blanchard-1630) and Mary Anna Hayward (Hayward-6670). In 1841, the Census states that the whole Blanchard family was living at Castor Street, All Saints Poplar, London, along with the Lawrence family. On the 4th September 1853, Maria Blanchard married George Hagger In Stepney, London, England. In 1854 their son Benjamin was born. On 11th January 1855, George, Maria, Benjamin and Maria's sister Keziah all boarded the ship 'Caroline' and emigrated to South Australia. They arrived into Port Adelaide on 25th April 1855. On 27th June 1855, 2 months after arriving into South Australia, Maria died of Tuberculosis. She is buried at the West Terrace cemetery, Adelaide. Her husband George then married Maria's sister Keziah in 1857 and they went on and had 11 children.
