Marvin Hollister "was admitted to the bar at Albany, N.Y., Jan. 15, 1847, and settled in Shullsburg, Wis., Nov. 20, 1847, where he has since resided; married Laura A. Blanchard, Dec. 1, 1852; she is a daughter of Leonard Blanchard of Granville, N. Y., who was a grandson of Samuel Adams, of Revolutionary fame, and Abigail R., daughter of Col. Erastus Rawley of Richmond, Mass., who commanded a regiment of Massachusetts militia in the War of 1812."
