On Emma Toyer's (nee Bland) Death Certificate, she died 4 April 1886, living at Unwins Bridge Road, Marrickville and was aged 55 years so she must have been born about 1830 or 1831. She died of typhoid after an illness of three weeks and was seen on the day she died by Dr James Kingsbury. Her father's name was Robert Bland and he was a woodturner. Her mother's name is unknown. Her death was registered by George Toyer, husband of Emma, living at Marrickville. She was buried on the 5th April 1886 at Rookwood Cemetery with the Funeral Directors being C Boots & Company with the witnesses to the burial being G.H. Gommeson and James Hadley. She was born in Bedfordshire England and had been in NSW, Australia for 31 years making it 1855 that she came out to Australia. She was married in Bedfordshire England aged 24 making it 1854 that she was married. There were 8 male and four female children living at the time of her death. [1]
Emma Bland is Sylvia's great great grandmother on my father's side of the family and Henry Bland, her brother, is my great, great, grandfather on my mother's side.
