Research Notes

Estimated Dates: This profile had birth/death as 1530/April 1547 but no sources to support those dates.[2]

The profile for Elisabeth's son Edward had triggered a database error because 1545 (the birth year listed prior to 13 February 2023) was before his father, John (born c1538), was not yet 13 years old. Edward's grandmother (John's mother, Joyce) is said to have been born c1525, so 1538 is as early as John's profile can go without causing an error based on Joyce's birth year. Since Elisabeth's death in April 1547 was not sourced, it was changed to c1551 to accommodate a birth year of 1551 for Edward.

Blayney-66 and Blayney-2 appear to represent the same person because: I detached Blayney-2 from Price-173, as the text for that profile does not mention a Blayney wife.

the 1546-1547 b/d of Blayney-2 is probably based on a date in her life... likely a marriage date. please merge.

Hi! I believe that Blayney may be the incorrect LNAB. I believe that this Elizabeth may be Elizabeth Herbert-1901. "Burke's Landed Gentry", 18th edition, 1969-1972. It shows the correct

Herbert genealogy. Since it is such a departure from what is linked I thought a discussion would be in order. The following is something I found that has excellent sourcing showing the history of John Price to include his grandmother Elizabeth Herbert who died @ 1574. This is the link that I found.... https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/soc.genealogy.medieval/LkmvilMSzFY Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

The following notes are just that - notes. It seems we've got a bit of tangle of Johns & Edwards... and it also seems that the Visitations and HOP are not in agreement. Posting these notes here so that I can find them again. The SGM discussion that mentions grandmother Elizabeth Herbert is in relation to John the Immigrant (Price-171), who is son of Richard (still trying to sort his profile out - WikiTree has two currently - Price-8010 & Price-172), but it seems that's a different branch of Prices than that of Mathew Goch's.

Notes:

Blayney for the Elizabeth who married John, son of Matthew Goch, seems to come from a footnote on page 272 of the Visitations of Wales. But other sources call his wife Elizabeth as daughter of "Rhys ap Morris ap Owain, of Aberbechan, nr. Newtown" (HOP & Wikipedia).

The ancestry of John Price who married Catherine, daughter of Sir Richard Pryse, Knt., as given in the Visitations, could be rendered as John ap Edward ap John ap Mathew Goch.

The John Price who died 1602 had a son Edward who married a Vaughan - a profile for an Edward m a Vaughan is Price-5791, but attached to John d 1584 m Elizabeth Perrot.

: Additional notes. As far as I can tell, neither of these families is the branch with John the immigrant (which agrees with the SGM link that says his grandmother is Elizabeth Herbert).
