Biography

Catherine Lovinia Bledsoe was born on 28 July 1911 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas, USA. She was the daughter of Charles Bertrano Bledsoe, 1868-1948, and his wife, Rosa Lee Carter, 1877-1955. ^[1]

On the 1 January 1920 US Census, Katherine Bledsoe was recorded as 8 years old, living with her parents: Charles B. Bledsoe, age 49, b: Tennessee; and Rosa Bledsoe, 38, b: Texas, with 2 older brothers and one older sister, in a rented house on Fillmore Street, Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, USA. Charles B. Bledsoe was a "Real Estate Agent" and his oldest son was a "Driver, Produce Company" there.^[2]

Ten years later, Catherine L. Bledsoe was recorded on the 1 April 1930 US Census as 18 years old, single, still living with her parents and one older brother (Jayce, age 21), in Amarillo, Potter, Texas. Her father was a "Real Estate Salesman" while Catherine was working as a "Cashier, Dry Goods Store" and her brother was a "Checker, Grocery Store" in Amarillo. ^[3]

Catherine was not found on the 1 April 1940 US Census but FamilySearch records state that on 5 July 1941 she married William Carroll Barbe (1902-1974) in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, USA. So far as is known, the couple had no children.

Nothing further has been found about the later life of Catherine (Bledsoe) Barbe (aka Bardé) except that the original source for this profile stated that her husband: Carroll Bardé, passed away on 2 March 1974 and was buried in Roswell, Chaves, New Mexico, USA. There is a Find A Grave Memorial under the name: Carroll Bardé that gives his birth year as 1899 and death in 1974. He is buried at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico, USA; Plot: Section C. ^[4]

The same source states that Catherine Lovinia (Bledsoe) Bardé survived her husband's passing. She passed away on 10 February 1984 in Uvalde, Uvalde, Texas, USA. Catherine (Bledsoe) Bardé was buried next to her late husband at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico, USA; Plot: Section C. ^[5]
