His birth was announced in September 1839 as "At Churchtown House, county Kerry, the Lady Blennerhassett, of a son"[1]. Rowland was the first child of Arthur Blennerhassett and Sarah Mahony .[2]
Rowland Blennerhasset[3], as a young boy,[4]was educated by the English Benedictines at Downside College which was located at The Tything of Downside in Midsomer Norton[5]. He furthered his education at the Royal University Of Ireland . He was a Member of Parliaments [6]for the County Kerry for over twenty years, from 1866 - 1885. He married Countess De Leyden and they had four children. He was also the High Sheriff in Blennerville, County Kerry as well as their 4th Baronet.

He was the father of Sir Arthur Charles Francis Bernard Blennerhassett (who succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Blennerhassett, of Blennerville, county Kerry [U.K., 1809] on 22 May 1909), Marie Carola Franciska Roselyne Blennerhassett, Paul Charles William Marmaduke Rowland Blennerhhssett and William Lewis Rowland Paul Sebastian Blennerhassett.
Rowland Blennerhasset, "Baronet", is listed as living as a "boarder" at the Hotel at 58 North Wall Street at North Dock in Dublin. He was the only Roman Catholic listed (except for the servants) and he stated that his place of birth was at "Churchtown House" in Churchtown, county Kerry. He was married and he was 61 years old.
He died in 1909 and he is buried in Downside Abbey, England.[9]
