Joseph Bloomfield was born in 1753 in Woodbridge, New Jersey. His parents were Moses Bloomfield and Sarah Ogden. He served in The War of 1812 as United States Army Brigadier General. He also served in the Revolutionary War as a Continental Army Officer. He was a congressman from New Jersey.
