Edward Blount was the second son of George Blount and Sieve Carroll. [1] [2] [3][4] His father George had a relationship with Sieve Carroll from 1585 prior to his marriage to Anne Loftus but the marriage to Sieve was not recognised and therefore the children of this first relationship were considered illegitimate. [1] [2] [5] [6]
Sir Edward Blount, who may have been his uncle, mentioned Edward in his will dated 1630.
Edward Blount of Ireland hath borrowed of me one hundred pounds for repayment of noth. I have his bond and although I have been ill-dealt noth therein, not in regard he is a poore man, my will and (?) is that his bond shall be cancelled.[7]
Essentially, Sir Edward bequeathed Edward the one hundred pounds, a very substantial sum of money. From 6 July 1632, Edward leased the lands of Narraghbegghe, Boultowne (Bolton), Newtown and others for a period of 61 years for £100 and "two couple of fat capons" on the condition that he repaired Bolton Castle and maintained armed men.
He married Eleanor Borrowes, daughter of Ensign Henry Borrowes of Giltown, County Kildare and sister of Sir Erasmus Borrowes. [1] [2] [3] [4] [8]
Edward and Eleanor had five sons and six daughters: [1] [3] [4]
Edward Blount was a Member of Parliament and returned for the borough of Athy, County Kildare on 3 July 1634.[1]
Edward Blount made his will on 7 May 1640 and it was proved on 12 June 1640. A transcript of Betham's abstract reads:

Edward Blount died on 23 May 1640 and was interred in the parish church of Giltown on 27 May.[1] His funeral entry, accompanied by a sketch of the arms of Blount (Barry nebuly of six or and sable; two roses) and Burrowes, states:
