Nancy Bly, the daughter of Joseph Bly and Sarah Getz, was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and went to Pickaway County, Ohio, in the 1830s with her family. [1] Her first husband, Joseph Combs, was probably a member of the Combs family from Hampshire County, Virginia, that settled in Pickaway County about the same time as the Bly family. He obviously died before 1845 and they apparently had no children. Nancy and her second husband, Williamson Campbell, moved to Piatt County, Illinois, in 1847 or 1848 and settled at White Heath in Sangamon Township.[2] In the fall of 1850, Nancy's mother, brothers and sister, Sarah, with her husband, Patterson Dungan, arrived in Piatt County, from Ohio, and settled near them in Sangamon Township. In 1860 Williamson and Nancy were living near her relatives and had four children of their own.[3] After Nancy's death, Williamson married Annie Hickman (born Huffman), widow of George Hickman, who had also moved to Piatt County from Pickaway County, Ohio.
