Thankful was born on 19 November 1719 in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut, United States. She was the daughter of Samuel Boardman and Mehitabel (Cadwell) Boardman.

Thankful died at the age of 79 on 23 December 1798 in Strafford, Orange, Vermont, United States.
