Will of Mary Gardiner, dated 27 June 1778.[1]

  • I, Mary Gardiner of CC, am in a low state of health, but of sound and perfect memory.
  • To my grandson Noley Boarman - 1 Negro woman named Nan.
  • To my son Richard Gardiner - 1 Negro girl named Heney.
  • To my granddaughter Keasey Mud - 1 Negro gal named Maley
  • To my granddaughter Mocky Gardner - 1 chest and hide and bedcord and 1 table at Joseph Jameson's and 1 iron kettle.
  • To my daughter Mud - 1 Negro girl named Mock and the rest of my estate.
  • I want my children to pay my just debts.

Signed Jun 5, 1778 - Mary (X her mark) Gardiner. Witnesses: Henry Mudd, Clement Mudd. Probated on Jun 27, 1778 by the oaths of both witnesses.

On 12 Aug 1778, letters of administration, with will annexed, were granted to Richard Mudd and Jane, his wife, on the estate of Mary Garner, late of CC, decd, the decd appointing no executor & sd Jane being her daughter. Securities = Henry Mudd and Clement Garner of CC. Bond = 2000 £ Appraisers: John Thomas Jr & William Barker. On Mar 9, 1779, the inventory was received, appraised at 21 £ 14 shillings 9 pence.[2]

Inventory of Estate taken 9 Mar 1779: Includes: 1 old feather bed, bedstead, and old furniture. Total: 21 £ 14 shillings 9 pence. Signed Jan 28, 1779 - John Thomas Jr, William Barker. Kindred: Thos Jas Boarman, Monica (x her mark) Gardiner. Proved on Mar 9, 1779 by Richard Mudd and Jane, his wife, administrators, with Will annexed, of Mary Gardner, late of CC, deceased.[3]

Boarman-46 and Boarman-31 appear to represent the same person because: same name; same parents. Did Mary perhaps marry twice? If not, one of these is attached to the wrong parents and needs to be detached. Please review and handle. Thanks.
