Garnet was born in 1895, son of James Boase and Florence Ann Trennery. [1]
On 30 August 1915 Garnet Leopold James Boase, aged 20, enlisted with the Australian Army, 34th Battery Australian Field Artillery, Regimental number 8394. He was an unmarried Methodist Turner and Fitter from Wallaroo Mines, South Australia. Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A34 Persic on 22 November 1915. He served as a Driver with Field Artillery Brigade 6, Battery 18 and in 1919 was stationed in London, England. He returned to Australia in October 1919 as a Corporal with the 6th Field Artillery Brigade. Awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & Victory Medal. [2]
Garnet Leopold J Boase married Linda Annie Allen in 1922 at Wallaroo Mines, South Australia. [3]
Sons
On 15 April 1942 Garnet Leopold James Boase enlisted with the Australian Army, Service Number S73788. He served as a Lieutenant with the 7th Battalion (SA) Volunteer Defence Corps until his discharge on 30 November 1945. [4]
He passed away on May5, 1970 [5] [6]and was buried at the Wallaroo Cemetery, Section General, Plot 1437. [7]
