I was born the ninth child of Anna Dean (Kaler) Bobbitt and William Edgar Bobbitt. I grew up in Decatur, IL. I had a Decatur Herald and Review paper route on Decatur and Oakiland streets. I attended William Harris and Enterprise Grade Schools, Woodrow Wilson Junior High and Stephen Decatur High School. I was in Jazz Band, Marching Band, Concert Band and Pep Band at SDHS. During High School I worked for two years at the Lincoln Theatre. After I graduated high school I worked the first summer at Milliken University stripping and waxing floors. I moved to Peoria Heights where my brother Ray lived and then to Pekin, Illinois. I worked for Velde Ford until I married my beautiful wife Becky Denise (Underwood) Bobbitt. I then went to work for Caterpillar Tractor Company as it was called at that time. I was seriously brain and head trauma injured in 1981 in a car crash. (suspected DUI of the other driver) After some tough years with the economy I attended Illinois Central College and Bradley University in Peoria. I earned my BS in Business Administration. I retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 2003 and was convinced by my daughter to be a substitute teacher. I've now worked for 30 different schools in 10 districts doing everything from pre K to high school.

One or more photos you recently uploaded is a nominee to be our current Family History Photo of the Week. We'll feature the winner on the main WikiTree home page all next week and share it on our social networks. I assume you wouldn't mind having the photo featured like this, if it were to win. If for some reason you wouldn't want this, let me know right away and we'll remove it if you let me know before Friday. Also, it isn't necessary, but if you have any more information about the photo or the person,we would love to hear any stories or information that adds background. You can add the additional information in the comment box underneath the photo. Thank you!
I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Let me know. I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders.

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.
I hope you're enjoying our site. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well!
Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.
We also have our Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.
And of course I'm here to help, just ask!
Alison ~ WikiTree Mentor
