Note N4162Aanund had a previous marriage with 2 sons. The oldest bought the home place in Norway and the youngest one from the first marriage settled in Grand Forks County, North Dakota.
Aanund was 75 years old when they moved to the Red River Valley (arriving June 14, 1879) from Filmore County, MN and he and his 17 year old son, Augund, built that sod shanty and sod stable. Targie was working at the Granden farms to earn money for living expenses for the family. The house was ready for them to move into the day before Thanksgiving, 1879.
