Biography

Abraham, son of Isaac Bogart and Sarah Rapelye was born on 9 September 1766[1] and baptized on 12 October 1766 at Wolvers Hollow, Oyster Bay, Province of New York.[2]

Abraham married Neeltje Hoogland ("Nelly"), daughter of Wilhemus Hoogland and Maria Hegeman,[3][4] on 5 April 1789,[1] with whom he had children:

  • Sarah Bogart, b. 8 October 1789, bap. 15 November 1789, m. John S. Conger[1][5]
  • Wilhelmus Bogart, b. 22 June 1791, bap. 24 July 1792, d.s.p. 27 July 1869[1][6][7][8][9]
  • Maria Bogart, b. 26 June 1793, bap. 7 July 1793, m. William Clark[1][10]
  • Neeltje Bogart ("Nelly"), b. 10 March 1795, bap. 12 April 1795, d. 3 June 1795[1][11][12]

Nelly died on 25 April 1795.[13]

Abraham Bogart was one of the executors of his father's will of 1796.[14]

Abraham married, second, Miss Sarah Wilkins, on 27 April 1800 in New York City.[15]

Sarah died on 10 October 1826.[1]

Abraham married, third, Jane Lowey, on 13 May 1827.[16]

John S. Conger petitioned for administration on the estate of Abraham Bogart, late of the City of New York, on 15 February 1841, declaring the decedent died on 17 February 1840 without a will, and naming his heirs-at-law as his widow Jane Bogart and three children, to wit, Sarah, the wife of the petitioner, Maria Clark, widow of William Clark, and Wilhelmus Bogart, his son.[17]
