Biography

James Madison Boggs was born on March 29, 1873, in Arkansas to Eliza J. Boggs and Robert S. Boggs. He had a brother named Charles E. who was born in 1877. James Madison served in the military on April 23, 1896, when he was 23 years old. On February 19, 1906, he married Julia Bertie Erwin when he was 32 years old. They had seven children: Ernest, Avis Ura, Auts, Velma, Arthur Erwin, Viva and Roger. James Madison lived in various places in Arkansas including Clay, White and Barnes. His wife Julia Bertie passed away on July 5, 1956, in McCrory, Arkansas at the age of 71. James Madison Boggs died on September 13, 1971, in McCrory, Arkansas at the age of 98 and was buried there.
