DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Perhaps I can assist with the children of John R. Boggs (there are multiple John Boggs' who also have the middle initial R). This John R was the son of Wm Boggs (sometimes referred to as Wm. Henderson Boggs) and his wife, Anne Johnson Boggs. This John R. was the first husband of my gr gr grandmother, Ursula Ison Boggs Salley Dixon (she outlived all three husbands). Per officaial battle records of the War Between the States, in the National Archive ni Washington DC, John R. Boggs was killed at the Battle of Gettysburgm Adams County, PA, when he received a glancing bow to the side of his head from a Union cannonball, during what we now know as Pickett's Charge. John was buried in a mass unmarked grave at the battlefield. Members of the Ben Caudill Camp, Sons of the Confederate Army, placed a memorial stone at Rich Caudill Cemetery in Letcher County, KY - BUT - it is a memorial stone only, not his burial site. On the 1860 Census, John and Usley have 3 children listed in the household, Jonathan, Rebecca and James. Daughter Martha, was born in 1862 and son Jesse was born March 1864, 8 months after his father's death. Martha and Jesse can be found on the 1870 Census in Letcher County, KY in the household of their mother, Usley and her new second husband, Thomas Salley - all of Ursula's children are listed as children of Thomas Salley, when in fact, none of them are his biological children. Usley had 5 children with John R. Boggs, Jonathan Bishop Boggs, Rebecca Ann Boggs, James Boggs, (not on the 1870 Census) and Martha Boggs. Usley had a son who was born between marriages, Loranza D. Boggs, b 3 Aug 1867 in Millstone, Letcher County, KY. yDNA testing done on his only known surviving male to male descendant, shows that he is a descendant of James L. Boggs 1752 - 1835. The exact identity of Loranza's father is unknown at this time. Of John and Usley's children, Jonathan died in 1935 in Deer Creek, Spokane Co, WA. Rebeca died in 1895, in Brown Branch, Taney Co, MO. James' DOD is unknown, Martha died after 1930, Jesse died in Taney County, MO in October 1911 and Loranza died 27 Aug 1962 in Jeffersonville, Clark Co, IN.

Boggs-1095 and Boggs-819 are not ready to be merged because: In trying to determine if Boggs-819 and Boggs-1095 should be merged I noticed that five of Boggs-819's children were born before he was born. Further research is needed before a merge can be made.
