Obituary

Mrs. Polly Boggs Pickett of Sharon Towers died Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Mrs. Pickett, a resident of Charlotte since 1938, was born in Liberty, S.C. on February 16, 1914. She was the daughter of Junius Clayton Boggs and Ida Gantt Boggs. Mrs. Pickett was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a life-long homemaker who put her faith, family and friends as her priorities.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Harry McFall Pickett, Jr. She is survived by a son, Harry M. Pickett, III of Sonoma, Calif.; a daughter, Polly Pickett Caldwell of Winter Haven, Fla.; and her husband David. In addition she is survived by three grandsons and their wives: David and Lynn Caldwell and Doug and Laura Caldwell of Charlotte, and Mark and Tiffany Caldwell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three great grandsons, Franklin, Cooper and Parker Caldwell; two great granddaughters, Lucy and Meredith Caldwell; a very special caretaker niece, Linder Carter Tucker of Rock Hill, S.C.; and four additional nieces and four nephews. Family members affectionately called her 'Honey.'

A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church Chapel on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 3:00 PM with visitation following in the Church Narthex. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon Towers, Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, or the charity of the donor's choice.
