Biography

Thomas was born in 1599. He was of Knock and Tullydonnell, County Louth, and he or a son of the name was a merchant of Drogheda, County Louth, in 1683, importing coal that year. (Archaological Journal, Vol. 3.)

Children

1. Mary baptized at Dublin, 19 May, 1641 or 1642, as " daughter of Capt. Thomas Bolton."
2. . Elizabeth, born about 1645. Married Kingsmill Pennefather, of Ballover, Old New Park, County Tipperary, M.P. for Cashel, etc. High sheriff 1703 and 1708. In 1698 he and " his wife Elizabeth Pennefather alias Bolton" were defendants in a controversy over land; in 1 712 one of the plaintiffs was Richard Buckworth, possibly a brother of her brother's wife.
3. Nicholas born 1647.

Note: The Official Pedigree adds: Lancelot, Anne, and Frances, omitting Elizabeth. There was a Lancelot Bolton in Ireland at about this time but not of this family.
