[On 28 April 1935 when Rollo, Barbara and Anne arrived at Tilbury aboard "Staffordshire" out of Port Sudan, their proposed address was Downs House, Yalding, Kent. This was presumably a period of leave from Rollo's posting to the Sudan Political Service, and they were visiting Barbara's mother and step-father, Capt. Reginald Arthur Norton, R.N. who owned Downs House (he died in 1939). The Yalding church where Rollo and Barbara married was about 15 kms from his mother's residence at Sutton Valence.]
