Biography
Samuel Jasper Bolton b 12 OCT 1838 to Thomas Chapman Bolton and Martha Scott Smithson at Newton Co GA, He married 15-year-old Ellen J, Sparks 10 JAN 1858 in Newton Co GA. Their first son Thomas Custis Bolton b 23 FEB 1859.
Samuel and family are in Madison Co AL in 1860 census as is his brother Andrew b 1830 GA and his family. Samuel is a railroad carpenter and Andrew b a railroad agent.
Samuel's next child Mary Augusta Bolton b Christmas day 1863 in Cartersville GA and by 1866 he was transferred back to Madison Co AL where his daughter Lizzie b 28 NOV 1866 in AL. Son Samuel (Jr) b NOV 1869 AL. All are included in 1870 Madison Co as is brother Andrew and and another brother Benjamin Newton Bolton b 1828 GA. All three are railroad carpenters.
In the 1860 United State census, Ellen and Samuel are living in Huntsville, Alabama with their son.
