FAMILY RECORDS: This is the story of Newton told to his son John Robert Bonner Sr. He, His young wife and her parents were members of a wagon train in bent on settling in Texas territory. Early one morning (1845 or late 1844) he rode on ahead of the train (as was the custom for the men to scout for possible trouble and to hunt for game ahead of the train.) He was never seen again. His wife and her family went on to Missouri to settle and there is where his son was born and Named John Robert Bonner for his Grandfather Bonner.
