Ezekiel was born in 1783 in Goshen, Connecticut. He is the son of Jarius Bonney and Anne Brown. Around 1810 he married Nancy Venen (their first child was born in 1811). The children were born in different cities, so the family moved around quite a bit. By 1817, they had settled in Conneaut, Ohio.[1][2] Ezekiel was a tanner and had no real property. They didn't even own a horse. He lived next door to a far more prosperous family member, either his brother or father since the name "Jairus Bonney" usually precedes his in the records.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] He passed away in 1857.[11]
