Biography

Ira J. Book was the son of Melissa A. (Walls) and Michael H. Book. He had been living in Youngstown, Ohio and had taken a buggy ride towards Pittsburg with his friend, Frank McNally, who was a native of New Castle. As they crossed the South Mill Street crossing in New Castle, they were struck by a P & LE RR train cars on Moravia Line. The men were taken to Shenango Valley Hospital in New Castle. They both died several hours later.
