Biography

Mrs. Ferol Booker Mathis 92 of Pensacola, FL passed away January 29, 2011.

Mrs. Mathis was born January 25, 1919 in Goodway, AL. She spent her childhood picking cotton and helping her Daddy in the field. She was married to Jethro Mathis, the love of her life, for 68 years. She had a very successful career with Field Enterprises. Mrs. Mathis worked several years for Federal Civil Service, Bell South Telephone Company and Dr. Deeson Bond.

Mrs. Mathis was a member of East Hill Baptist Church, Shemron Temple #133 Daughter of the Nile and the Pensacola Bream Fisherman Association. Mrs. Mathis was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. She was considered by many to be an expert on both fishing and travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jethro Mathis; her parents, Grover C. and Mamie McNeil Booker; sister, Geneva Perry; brothers, Cecil Booker and Harold Booker.

She is survived by one son whom she loved dearly, Mr. Lawrence W. Mathis of Pensacola.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M. at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Pastor Jim Burkhardt and Pastor Terry Vaughn will be officiating with interment to follow in Bayview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be; Charles A. Lowery, Ernie Rivers, John Chason, Gilbert McGhee, Olan Tisdale and Dr. Larry J. Sauls.

Honorary pallbearers will be; James Spencer, Bud Spencer, Charlie Barker, JD Brown, Dustin Parker, James E. Suchy, Dr. Richard Olsen, John Bowman, Barbra Albrecht, Patricia Chason and Brenden Dorehty.
