Marriage

Mary married Thomas Cowperthwaite on 19 February 1733 in Province of New Jersey.[2]

In 1754 when their daughter Phebe married Samuel Andrews, Mary and Thomas were living in Chester Township, Burlington, Province of New Jersey.[3]

On 8th March 1764, Mary Cowperthwait was among the women appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting of Quakers.[4]

Death

4 May 1771 Chester, Burlington, Province of New Jersey [citation needed]
Moorestown was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 11, 1922, from portions of Chester Township (now Maple Shade Township).[5]

The following is a transcript of the Cowperthwaite Section, page 752 of St. Mary's Church [Protestant Episcopal], Colestown Church Book. This book is found in the Asa Matlack Collection at The Historical Society of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"Thomas Cowperthwaite b. _____ d. 20 4 mo. 1781 s/o John and Sarah md. Mary Burden d/o of *Richard or Jonathan, settled on his father's plantation in Twp. of Chester where was born to them:

Thomas - Mary Willis and next a Salem woman
John- married and had 3 children - died smallpox
William- Hope Shreve and Hope Willis - Settled Mt. Holly
Hugh- Rebecca Roberts 22 of 10 mo. 1772
Job- Annie_________ she 92 yrs. old the 13 day 10 mo. 1846
Phebe- _________Basset (or Andrews?), David Brown"
Phebe Dewell md. 17-3-1789 Isaac Glover"[6][7]

We should re-evaluate Mary Borden's father. Evidence has come to light to show that her father is most likely Jonathan Borden b)1690.
