Biography

European Aristocracy
Robert Boteler was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

He held the office of Butler to Ranulph de Gernon, Earl of Chester, and founded an abbey for Cistercian monks at Poulton, co. Chester, in 1158. [Ref: CP II:230(a)]. He m. Ivetta Helgot and they had 8 children:[1]

  2. Richard who ultimately succeeded when Robert died without heirs
  3. William Pincerna
  4. Gilbert Pincerna
  5. Hugh
  6. Ranulphus or Radulf
