Gaspard BOUCHER[1][2][3][4][15] [Carpin #18][5][16]

The son of Jacques Boucher, carpenter, and Françoise Paigné, Gaspard Boucher was born about 1599 in the Notre-Dame parish of Mortagne in Perche province.[1][3][4][17]

He married Nicole Lemaire, daughter of Nicolas Lemaire & Marie Castry, on December 12th, 1619 at Mamers in Le Mans diocese and ancient Maine province.[1][8][2] [18]

He arrived in Canada with his wife and four or five of their children in 1634 or 1635. In 1634, some 30-odd Percheron immigrants had crossed the ocean led by colonizing seigneur Robert Giffard. Gaspard may have been among the group.[12] On their arrival, whenever they actually arrived, they were accommodated by Champlain in the 'habitation'. They soon after established themselves in the Notre-Dame-des-Anges seigneurie where Gaspard was engaged on the Jesuit farm. In March 21, 1646, Gaspard Boucher acquires a 24-arpents farm at Trois-Rivières.

Gaspard passed away between 20 May 1662 and 1666 in Trois-Rivières, in a house fire that also claimed the life of his wife Nicole.[1][14]

Notes

  • Google translation:
He is still alive on May 20, 1662: "Request by Gaspard Boucher, plaintiff, against Jacques Besnard (Bénard)...".
Gaspard probably died between 1662 and 1666 in the fire of his house. Madeleine, his daughter, declared on June 27, 1668 that the title deed of 1646 "was burnt with the house of the said Gaspard Boucher, in which he was".

Does anyone have or know the original source for the 12 December 1619 marriage date? All I can find for it here are secondary sources. With son Charles baptized in April 1620, the December 1619 marriage seems questionable.

hi Roger, Mamers archives online do not have this time period for marriages available. Godbout doesn't list the marriage, only the baptisms of children (source added).

I wasn't able to find this in the Sarthe records online so was wondering if it might instead be a contract date, a possible source for more details.

have written to Fichier origine to find out where the data comes from, I believe it's Jean-Marie Gemme who supplied it, although I'm not sure. He's a frequent name as researcher there.

Boucher-2456 and Boucher-1025 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicate

Hayot-63 and Boucher-1025 appear to represent the same person because: Gaspard Hayot never existed.

In a download on the profile of Marin Boucher called "LE RÉSEAU DU CANADA Étude du mode migratoire de la France vers Ir Nouvelle-France

(1628-1462) " ( https://www.wikitree.com/photo/pdf/Boucher-94 ) Gaspard is referred to on several occasions as the brother of Marin Boucher. Why is he not included as a brother with Gaspard on your tree?

Merge of Boucher-1745 & Boucher-1025 completed; however, merges of both parents also need to be completed in order to eliminate duplicates. Proposed merges have already been made, awaiting permission from profile managers.

I checked with 2 other sources and Lianne, your are correct for Jacques Boucher and Françoise Paingé. However!!!

Gaspard's grand-parents were Jean Boucher and Jeanne Mercier.

Jean Boucher and Françoise Roussin would have married in 1540!!! Not connected this way.

I agree with Lianne's change.

The parents attached to this profile don't match the parents named in the biography, which comes from Fichier Origine. The parents in Fichier are Jacques Boucher and Françoise Paigné. If those are the correct parents, then the ones currently connected to this profile (Jean Boucher and Francoise Roussin) are actually Gaspard's grandparents.

Can anyone clarify? If there are no objections, I will change the parents to the ones from Fichier.
