Text: No. 1 of the twelve Acadian "quadruple" deportees, Marie BOURG was first exiled to Georgia in the autumn of 1755 from Baie-Verte. This group obtained passports from the governor of Georgia and provided themselves with the means of returning to Acadia. Unhappily, their return was intercepted at Cape Cod, where they were arrested in Aug 1756. The rest of their exile was passed in Massachusetts. At the time of the migration to Miquelon in 1767, some were transported instead to France. Marie traveled on the snow "Le Saint-Jacques (cites M. Poirer, LES ACADIENS AUX ILES SAINT-PIERRE ET MIQUELON,1758-1828, Moncton, 1984, p. 235). We find her again after the deportation of 1778 at La Rochelle, where her husband died 18 Apr 1779. In 1794, Marie was sent to Boston in 1794, and later to Port-Louis in France, where she died 6 Jul 1801.
