Ann Bowater was a daughter of John Bowater and Frances Corbitt, both of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England.[1] We do not know the immigration date for the family, but Ann's father probably brought his new bride to Pennsylvania and then purchased land. Ann would have been born a few years later, probably in Edgmont, Chester County, Pennsylvania Colony.
John Bowater, Ann's father, was a Quaker. He was in America visiting Friends Meetings in Virginia in 1677 and 1678.[1] He was imprisoned in London from 1681 to 1683 for his religious beliefs.[1] In 1685, John Bowater purchased 50 acres in Edgmont, Pennsylvania Colony.[1]
Ann married William Chandler. The abstract of the will of her mother, Frances Bowater, (Book A, page 110, Chester County, Pa), mentions her daughter Ann Chandler.[2]
Ann probably died before 1741, as she is not mentioned in the wedding record of her son, John.[2]
