Ann was born in 1849 in South Lopham, Norfolk. She is the daughter of George Bowell and Elizabeth Wharton.
In the 1851 census she is living with her parents in South Lopham. Her father was assisting her mother's father on his farm.[1] In 1861 the family had moved to Blo'Norton[2][3]
Ann married Walter Stevens (born 1856 in Stepney, London) on 24 Sep 1883 in Norwich.[4]
In 1901 and 1911 Ann and husband Walter are living on Folly Hall Farm in Walsham Le Willows in Suffolk with their children.[5]
Their children listed in the census returns are George W Stevens (born 1884, Blo Norton), Ellen Elizabeth Stevens (born 1886 Blo Norton) and Herbert J Stevens (born 1890 Blo Norton). The children are found with Walter in 1891 census at their grandparents house (George and Elizabeth Bowell). Walter's place of birth is listed as Hopton, Suffolk, England rather than Stepney, London this time)
