Biography
John was a painter, according to the 1860 Middleport, IL, census.
On the 1860 census, he was listed as age 21, b. in Ohio. On the 1850 census, he was listed as age 10, b. in Illinois. Now it doesn't take much math to figure something is incorrect here. Was he b. in late, 1839 or in 1840?
