Eleanor was born about 1727 in either Pennsylvania or Virginia. Her parents are at present unknown but her surname may have been Bowen; research is needed. Eleanor passed away after June 1790 probably in Augusta County, Virginia. She is named executor for her husband's will probated 15 June 1790 in Augusta County.[1]
Eleanor married Thomas Gillespie about 1745 in Augusta County, Virginia.[citation needed] He died in 1789 and mentioned her in his will. She must have died some time after that, likely still living in Augusta.
