When Margaret Peggy Bowen was born on October 1, 1788, in North Carolina, her father, John, was 25 and her mother, Mary Moore, was 19. She married George Washington Goodman in 1803 in Kentucky. They had 12 children in 31 years. She died on December 30, 1867, in Hutton, Illinois, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Coles County, Illinois.
