Biography
John Bowen was baptised at St Ishmael’s parish church in 1831, the son of George and Letitia Bowen. Gorge is not found on the 1841 or 1851 census, and does not turn up on record until his marriage to Ann Morgans in 1857 at Hasguard parish church. John and Ann can be found at Butter Hill Lodge in St Ishmael’s parish. With them at that address are two daughters, Harriet born 1859 at Middle Hall, Talbenny, and Arabella born 1863 at Butter Hill St Ishmaels. As yet I have not found John and Ann beyond the 1861 census. But I do have a baptism for a son Arthur who was born in 1863 at the Lodge St Ishmaels in 1863. So we can conclude that John and Ann were in the St Ishmaels area until that point in Time. Written by Keith Rees 2016
