Biography
William was born about 1777. He is the son of Robert Bowen and Mary Gillespie . He married Martha Adeline Hallum about before 1800 [1] .

Death
William Bowen passed away in 1857. He died of sudden death at his kitchen table.[7] He wrote his will 2 Sept 1856, and it was proven 21 Dec 1857.[8] [9]
Slaves
William Bowen was a slaveholder. The 1850 slave schedule includes 10 unnamed enslaved persons.[10] The enslaved of the Bowen estate were Assessed for value,[11] and then they were sold.[12] [13] [14] [15]
