Note N273Lawrence Logan Bowers, son of John and Esther Kinman Bowers, was born near Camden on August 25, 1881. He was reared near Camden, then in 1906 he moved to a farm near Ripley. In 1902 he moved to Macomb where he has since resided. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Union Chapel Church near Camden. On December 24, 1902, he was united in marriage with Etta Ingles, who survives with six children, Mrs. Esther Vance, and Mrs. Marjorie Brown of Macomb; Mrs. Ruby Walraven of Industry; Mrs. Hildreth Casey of Chicago; Lewis Bowers of Mendon; and Mrs. Ada Fawcett of Canton. Twenty grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ada Ingles of Quincy, also survive. He has been preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Burke, and seven brothers and sisters, Martin, Bert, Harvey, Claude, Jessie, Kate and Amy Bowers. Mr. Bowers passed away suddenly on Monday, July 1,1957, while working at the Miss Jessie Barclay farm southeast of Macomb, at the age of 75 years, 10 months,and 6 days. Funeral services were held in the Clugston funeral home with the Rev. O. B. Enselman officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Garden at Macomb. Lawrence and Etta Bowers farmed land near Camden, Illinois, until 1920 when they moved to Macomb. Lawrence and Etta regularly attended, along with their family, a country church near their farm. After moving to Macomb, Lawrence Bowers stopped attending church because he was not allowed to wear his overall to the services. The Quincy Herald-Whig: Quincy, Illinois, July 2, 1957. 1
