COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Jewell Christine Maddux, 85, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, April 9, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Maddux died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 14, 1925, in Putnam County to the late Causby and Addie Sherrell Bowman. Mrs. Maddux worked as a telephone operator for GTE for 37 years. She was a member of Taylor's Seminary Free Will Baptist Church along with her husband, Leonard. In addition to her husband, her family includes two sons and daughtersinlaw, Larry and Pam Maddux of Salem, Ill., and Ricky and Gale Maddux of Franklin; four brothers and sistersinlaw, Finis and Charlie Mai Bowman of Donelson, Truman and Vivian Bowman of Cookeville, Jerry and Bonnie Bowman of Mt. Juliet and David and Donna Bowman of Baxter; a sister and brotherinlaw, Mattie and Billy Stewart of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Kelly Bourland and husband Blake of Memphis, Ben Maddux and wife Corrie of Knoxville and Rachel Maddux of Franklin; and four greatgrandchildren, Libby and Knox Bourland and Casen and Layla Maddux. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maddux was preceded in death by a brother, James Boman; and a sister, Geraldine Lollar. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. Jerry Buckern will officiate the services.
