Biography

Lydia BOWMAN, daughter of Edward BOWMAN (1813-1846) and Ann SHAW (1818-1866), was born in 1850 in Cellerhead, Staffordshire, England. She appeared in the census in 1851 in The Union Workhouse, Cheadle, Staffordshire, England.(*1) She appeared in the census in 1861 in 29 Spring Road, Longton, Staffordshire, England.(*2) In 1870 she was a Lathe Treader. She married Charles BLUNDRED on 24 January 1870 in St. James The Less Church, Longton, Staffordshire, England.(*3) John Taylor and Mary Ann Hudson were the witnesses. Charles and Lydia both made their marks with a cross. In 1871 Lydia was a Potter.(*4) She appeared in the census in 1871 in 5 Normacot Road, Longton, Staffordshire, England.(*4) She appeared in the census in 1881 in 2 Chatfield Place, Normacot, Staffordshire, England.(*5) She appeared in the census in 1891 in 4 Chatfield Place, Longton, Staffordshire, England.(*6) In 1901 she was a Potters Scourer.(*7) She appeared in the census in 1901 in 72 Spring Road, Normacot, Staffordshire, England.(*7) She appeared in the census on 2 April 1911 in 152 Normacot Road, Normacot, Staffordshire, England.(*8) She died of Bronchitis on 23 April 1920 in Normacot, Staffordshire, England.(*9) The address was: 152 Normacot Road, Normacot, Staffordshire, England. The informant was Emily Kidd, daughter present at the death. Lydia was buried on 28 April 1920 in Longton Cemetery, Longton, Staffordshire, England.

Lydia Bowman was the daughter of Ann Shaw, but was not the daughter of Ann's husband, Edward Bowman who died in 1846. Lydia's father has not currently been identified.
