Biography

Here are the directions to Joseph Bowman's grave.

From Highway 9 East of Norman take 102 highway south 8 miles to highway 59B. Go west 4 miles turn North on Fish Market road to Mars Hill Cemetery on Mars Hill Road. From the cemetery go north on Fish Market road 1 mile to Hope Road turn west 1/4 of a mile. His grave site is on the North side of the road. Freda here are somethings to look for after you turn west on Hope road just before you get to the site on the north side of the road is a BLACK PLOW MAIL BOX just down below that you will see THREE MAIL BOXES TOGETHER on the south side of the road. The site is in between the three mail boxes and a silver mail box that has and address 29449 on the front. The site is approximately about 60 feet before you get to the silver mail box and is on the north side of the road. You cannot see it from the road the bank is kind of steep. Get Carl to climb the hill and he can see it laying close to the road way just over the fence. I did some sleuthing around after we got home yesterday and learned that the Land is now 110 acres and is owned by Johnny or Johnie Spears. he lives in Okla. City and has owned the land for many years. He has just recently sold the 110 acres to a rancher from Wyoming and he will move there sometime soon. (I'm Talking about Grandpa Bowmans land). We didn't ask permission to see the site there wasn't anyone around. Houston remembered where the site was the minute he saw the area. Of course he lived just down the road from there when he was a redneck kid. ha On the stone ( it says) Gone but not forgotten. Houston said this is not the stone that used to be there. There used to be a square home made one. we have no Idea who put this factory made one there. Von
