Biography

Sarah Bowman was born about 1696. [1]

Sarah Bowman married Alexander Beal in Pennsylvania in 1716. They were Quakers. Sarah was a member of the Neshaminy (or Neshamina) Friends Meeting House in Langhorne, Bucks County (now called the Middletown Meeting House), while Alexander belonged to the Abington Meeting House in Jenkintown, Montgoery County, a dozen miles to the southwest.

The minutes of the Abington Monthly Meeting for 30 January 1715/6 ("30:11 mo. 1715") read: "A certificate was granted Alexander Beal in order to proceed on towards marriage with Sarah Bowman of Nesshamanak Meeting." [2] The minutes of the Middletown Monthly Meeting for 1 March 1715/6 ("1st day of the 1st month 1715") show that consent was given for the marriage to proceed. [3]

Sarah was almost certainly dead before 1723 when Alexander married his second wife, Sarah Town.

Bowman-4888 and Bowman-4843 appear to represent the same person because: both are married to the same person. Both are unsourced.
