Biography

He was born in November 1595 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland and his parents were Jean (Kerr) and Robert Boyd, Master of Boyd.

He was educated at the University of Saumur.

Upon the death of his grandfather, Sir Thomas Boyd, 6th Lord Boyd, in June 1611 he succeeded as Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock.[1][2]

Robert Boyd first married on 24 Mar 1615 to Margaret Montgomerie or Montgomery. [3] Margaret (Montgomerie). She first daughter (and after 1613, heir of) the Hon. Robert Montgomerie, of Giffen, by Jean Campbell, first daughter of Sir Matthew Campbell, of Loudoun. Margaret was widow of Hugh Montgomerie, Earl of Eglintoun. Margaret was living as Boyd's wife on 04 March 1616, but died s.p., in 1616.

Robert Boyd married secondly on 09 Dec 1617 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland to Christian Hamilton, Lady Lindsay. [4] She was first daughter of Thomas Hamilton, 1st Earl of Haddington, by his first wife, Margaret Borthwick, daughter of James Borthwick, of Newbyres. Christian was widow of Robert Lindsay, Lord Lindsay of Byres.

He died on 28 August 1628 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. [5]

His widow, an ardent Presbyterian, died "very comfortably" at the house of her daughter Lady Scott, of Ardross, in the parish of Elie, shortly before 22 January 1646 and was buried on 06 February 1646.

Boyd-4719 and Boyd-500 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth date death date needs to be determined.

I'm in agreement. Looks like the death date for Boyd-4719 is wrong as there's reference to his will on other one.
